NDSU names Kalk new executive director for Research and Technology Park

FARGO — North Dakota State University has named a new executive director for its Research and Technology Park.

Brian Kalk, a former member of the state’s Public Service Commission and current director of energy systems development, design and operations at the University of North Dakota’s Energy and Environmental Research Center, will replace current tech park Executive Director Chuck Hoge, NDSU announced Tuesday, March 19.

No timetable for the when Kalk would leave UND has been finalized.

“I have had a rewarding two years at the EERC but I'm ecstatic to be back at NDSU!!” Kalk said in a Facebook post Tuesday.

NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani, chairman of the board for the Research and Technology Park, said Kalk’s unique combination of education, experience and extensive networks throughout North Dakota made him ideal for the job.

“Brian will be able to hit the ground running and have an immediate positive impact. Business leaders will be impressed by his ideas and ability to seize on the park’s success and be the catalyst for an even brighter future,” Bresciani said.

Hoge will be departing to become chief financial officer for Life Action Ministries in Michigan in April.

The NDSU Research and Technology Park is a non-profit corporation that helps develop technology-based businesses and broaden the state’s economic base.
