Former Sen. Heitkamp to speak at UND commencement; actor Duhamel to receive honorary degree
GRAND FORKS - Former U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp is set to address University of North Dakota graduates later this month.
Heitkamp will speak at the commencement ceremony for graduate students at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Alerus Center, the university announced via its UND Today blog.
During the ceremony Heitkamp, along with pilot Clay Lacy, will be presented with an honorary doctor of letters degree from UND.
Heather Wilson, outgoing secretary of the U.S. Air Force, will speak at the undergraduate ceremony, UND previously announced. That ceremony is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at the Alerus Center. Wilson will leave her post as Air Force secretary on May 31 to assume the presidency of the University of Texas.
Actor Josh Duhamel, a North Dakota native, will receive an honorary degree during the undergraduate ceremony.
