Stats: Unemployment rate down among people 25 years and older

The unemployment rate was down 2.4% in January among people 25 years and older with bachelor degrees or higher, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

Among that group the unemployment rate was 2% in January, while the national unemployment rate was 3.6% in the same month. That’s down 4% since January 2019, according to the bureau. 

The national unemployment rate is for people age 16 and older.

“The unemployment rate for people with some college or an associate degree was 2.8% in January 2020, down from 3.4% a year earlier,” according to information released by the bureau on Wednesday, Feb. 12. “Among workers age 25 and older who graduated high school but did not attend college, the unemployment rate was 3.8% in January 2020, about the same as a year earlier.

The unemployment rate was higher (5.5%) among workers without a high school diploma, a slight drop from 5.7% reported in January 2019.
