Houston Engineering welcomes new senior technician 

BISMARCK, N.D. – Jay Peterson has joined Houston Engineering Inc's Bismarck team as a full-time senior technician. 

Jay is a veteran of the water supply industry and will provide construction phase services for major water supply and infrastructure projects throughout western North Dakota.

Dakota Supply Group board welcomes new member

PLYMOUTH, Minn. – Dakota Supply Group has welcomed Marie Robinson to its Board of Directors. 

Robinson is an experienced executive with a successful career with large organizations primarily serving in the retail space.  Her business background includes national chains in the retail product sector, as well as national grocery retail and wholesale organizations. 

Since 2014, Robinson has been with Capri Holdings Ltd., where she currently holds the position of senior vice president, chief operations and transformation officer. Earlier in her career, she was senior vice president, chief logistics officer at ToysRUs, as well as senior vice president, supply, logistics and customer experience at The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company. She was also senior vice president, Supply Chain at Smart & Final Stores LLC, held various logistics and operations positions at Walmart Stores, Inc, and began her career as a U.S. Army logistics officer. 

Grand Forks man inducted into Minnesota Auctioneers Hall of Fame

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Dennis Biliske was inducted into the Minnesota State Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the 70th annual MSAA Conference and Show held in St. Cloud, Minn.

Criteria for the award is based on honesty, high ethical standards, a successful auction business, contributions to the auction profession, service to the MSAA, involvement in community affairs and family.

Biliske started his auction career in 1985 by attending auction college in Mason City, IA while still a high school senior in Cavalier, N.D.

Biliske has had an illustrious career, conducting well more than 2000 auctions in nine U.S. states; has been a managing partner in numerous Canadian auctions and was the lead auctioneer for Asia International Auctioneers in Subic Bay, Philippines for seven years, conducting 49 auctions in southeast Asia.

Together with his wife Sue, Biliske now owns and operates Resource Auction, a regional auction

company that has conducted auctions in six states since 2010. The company is based in Grand Forks. Biliske and Sue reside on their farm near Hensel, N.D.

He was inducted into the North Dakota Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame in 2015.

Black Hills State Univ. welcomes new president

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University has invited the community to welcome the school’s new president.

Dr. Laurie S. Nichols, who has been serving in an interim capacity since July , will be the 11th president of the BHSU. 

The welcome event will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, in the Jacket Legacy Room on the second floor of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union. Steve Meeker, vice president for University Advancement at BHSU, will serve as master of ceremonies. 

A native of Colman, S.D., Nichols received her undergraduate degree in home economics education from South Dakota State University. She holds a master of education degree in vocational and adult education from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. in family and consumer sciences education/family studies from The Ohio State University.

Prior to coming to BHSU, Nichols was president at the University of Wyoming. From 2009 to 2016 she served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at South Dakota State University. She previously served as dean of family and consumer sciences at SDSU. In 2008 she was tapped to be the interim president at Northern State University. Earlier in her career, she taught at secondary and post-secondary levels in South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska, Ohio, Idaho and Iowa.
